The mission is simple: create lasting, redemptive solutions to help children and families become whole.
Churches are often full of people who want to make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable children, but don’t know how. They simply need a plan and guidance. We call church-led ministries that serve vulnerable children and families Family Advocacy Ministries or FAMs.
Rooted Families equips churches to create and maintain volunteer led Care Communities that provide a strong support system for foster & adoptive families, and biological families. Care Communities create the opportunity to serve at risk children and their families in practical, hands-on ways. With these relational support teams, churches have the opportunity to provide strong, healthy context for a child’s transition into a new placement. When supporting biological families, churches have an opportunity to help strengthen families and help prevent children from entering foster care and strengthening reunification efforts.
Rooted Families implements a care-sharing technology platform, CarePortal, that helps connect your church FAM to local children and families in crisis. These requests are vetted and submitted in real-time by Agency Professionals.
When your church FAM chooses to offer Raising Highly Capable Kids curriculum to families you are helping provide parents with an interactive, practical, and hands on tool that helps build community! RHCK helps your church provide relevant stories and exercises parents will learn based on Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets – essential building blocks that can help parents maximize their child’s potential and empower the whole family! These essential building blocks not only help parents raise healthy, caring and responsible children but also equip kids with the power to make healthy life choices – including a proven increase in their GPA.
These are amazing opportunities that help connect your church to the amazing agency partners in your community. Examples of other church FAM service projects include: visitation room updates, Christmas parties for CFSD Staff/schools, dropping off quarterly donuts and coffee, writing thank you cards, joining the We See You Campaign … Contact us today to start a service project in your community

While there is no required financial cost to churches to partner, we do invite all churches to consider a financial partnership as a FAM Activity. When churches give financial support to Rooted Families as one of their FAM Activities it helps ensure other churches have the ability to implement FAMs. Expanding the network of church-led FAMs requires significant financial investment, time, resources, and effort to coach and equip church Advocates as they lead their church ministries to transforming the local child welfare landscape. We want to make it financially feasible for all churches to care for vulnerable children, not to create a barrier, and in order for that to be possible we work with each church individually to create a partnership that fits your budget and capacity. Contact us to discuss how your church FAM financial gift can grow the network.
That’s okay—most churches don’t when they start. Part of launching a FAM is raising awareness within your congregation and community about the need for foster families. We’ll equip you to recruit, train, and support new foster families while also showing your church how to care for families already fostering in your area. You don’t need foster families to start; you just need a willing heart.
